MIAMI, Florida, USA– A delegation from the Virgin Islands (VI) has departed the territory to participate in Seatrade Cruise Global 2026, taking place in Miami, Florida, from April 13 to 16, 2026.

The Virgin Islands is seeking to enhance the territory's strategic approach to cruise tourism during a period of increased cruise activity and rising visitor arrivals. In response to this growing momentum, the VI is focusing on balancing growth with value.

At this year’s Seatrade Cruise Global event, the Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Kye M. Rymer (R5), and his delegation will highlight various selling points, including sustainability efforts.

Expand relations with luxurious cruise lines

Honourable Rymer stated, “A key focus of the Territory’s strategy is the expansion of relationships with smaller, luxury cruise lines. These vessels, which have increased their calls to the Virgin Islands in recent years, offer opportunities for more immersive visitor experiences and stronger potential to convert cruise passengers into overnight guests.”

He further explained that this direction builds on recent successes, including new partnerships with exclusive brands like the Orient Express Yacht, a significant addition to the Territory’s cruise portfolio.

VI delegation to engage in strategic discussions

According to a press release from the government, participation in Seatrade Cruise Global 2026 has allowed the Virgin Islands delegation to engage in strategic discussions, strengthen existing partnerships, and explore new collaborations aligned with the event’s theme, “Beyond the Horizon: Leveraging Cruising’s Strength and Scale to Drive Innovation.”

Hon. Rymer and the VIP continue to represent and push for a better Virgin Islands. I know the cruise industry is doing well under this administration and it will continue to do so.

Remember cruise passengers help with our local vendors and the overnight cruisers help our hotels.
