BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Virgin Islands Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has advocated for more support from the United Nations as the Caribbean region battles the COVID-19 pandemic and its variants.

The Premier made the calls via remarks delivered during the December 13, 2021, signing ceremony of the UN Multi-Country Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (MSDCF) for the English and Dutch Speaking Caribbean, covering the period 2022-2026.

COVID increased regional vulnerability - Premier

Calling it a great day for the Virgin Islands, Eastern Caribbean and the wider Caribbean region, the Premier said the region is at a critical stage where the global pandemic has increased our vulnerability as a grouping of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and low-lying coastal countries.

“The now fast-spreading Omicron variant also reminds us that we are not out the woods yet. Many countries and territories continue to experience the negative economic, social, and health impacts of the virus. Controlling COVID and achieving a balanced recovery will take longer than anyone imagined.”

“Without a doubt, we need the support of the UN now more than ever. Your assistance is critical if we are to still achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Despite the scale of the challenge, I remain confident and optimistic that the SDGs are still within reach, but it will require tireless effort, multisectoral partnerships, and creative approaches to resource mobilization,” Hon Fahie said.

The Premier highlighted that within the MSDCF, the Virgin Islands will be seeking UN support to implement the National Sustainable Development Plan (NSDP), which is now in advanced draft form after months of public consultation and technical assistance from ECLAC.

More support needed - Premier

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to you Didier [Mr. Didier Trebucq, UN Resident Coordinator for Barbados] for living up to the UN mantra of ‘leaving no one behind’. You have made every effort to ensure that the British Virgin Islands is included in UN assistance to the Eastern Caribbean to support COVID response.”

Hon Fahie expressed gratitude for the inclusion of the territory in the various UN joint programmes to accelerate SDGs implementation given the Virgin Islands would often have difficulties qualifying for development assistance he said.

“Looking ahead to 2022, my Administration looks forward to continuing to work closely with UN colleagues on UN assistance to the British Virgin Islands within the framework of our Country Implementation Plan,” he said.

He said the plan will support the territory’s transition from recovery to sustainable development and unveiled plans to open a satellite Resident Coordinator Office in the VI during the first half of 2022.

The UN's goal is a one world government or the New World Order. They are achieving this through fear mongering climate change and covid.

Don't be fooled by these politicians who have been bought out by the UN. They are painting the enemy to be the UK when the real enemy is the UN.

Too often, advanced countries consisting mostly of the dominant caste view developing countries afflicted with health issues, etc, mostly with pity, sorrow, and detachment etc until it affects them, ie, Ebola in west Africa in 2013. Western Africa got the attention after Ebola showed in advanced countries.

Moreover, the US bailed out Western Europe ravaged and devastated during WWII. After the war, the US devised the Marshall Plan to bail Western Europe, providing funding of approx $13B, along with other assistance. The UK benefitted the most under the Marshall Plan, receiving approx 26% of the funding.

Similarly, OECD, UN, IMF, WB, Commonwealth of Nations etc must collaborate to develop a Marshall Plan-styled modeled assistant package to help CARICOM, as well as other emerging and developing countries, particularly Small Island Developing States (SIDS), facing Covid challenges. They ignore these poor, emerging and developing regions/countries at their own peril.

Indeed, big countries look down and thumb their noses with disdain at small, poor countries. Additionally, Whites in big countries, ie, US, UK, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, Australia look down at Blacks and social issues in their neighborhoods with hand off, until the the same social issues spill over into the White areas. Then Blacks are used as scapegoats for the issues although both groups suffer the same ills. The region should not hold their breaths for assistance with Covid. The region is predominantly Black. And if it were White, the interest would be greater. Some will come on here and will cry racism. Facts are facts and truths.

When Richard Nixon started the war on drugs the UN members ran with it.

Now there’s a huge violent black market funding cartels crips bloods and other violent groups of all sorts with the monopoly over the newly illegal goods. A prohibition affecting persons globally.

After alcohol prohibition in America was proven to create and fund gangs in America they artificially and deliberately pushed the world into gang land complete with dehumanizing legal percussion of non violent citizens.

In the Virgin Islands and many have been persecuted for the marijuana that UN members suddenly realize has medicinal qualities.

With all their money it’s purely willful to outlaw research against the truth of their agenda and at the same time claim they have the “facts” to state there is no medicinal qualities.

The same people keeping minorities down globally and messing up our society from the inside out are the people we go looking money from.... that’s why when they tell us to follow them in their cult of toxic ignorance we can’t say “no that’s not morally right, nor is it truth.”
