Hon Fahie unanimously re-elected VIP Chairman, Lemuel L. Smith is President
In keeping with its rules, the Governing body of the VIP held an election on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Treasure Isle Hotel.
According to senior members within the party, current Premier and Minister of Finance Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) was unanimously re-elected as the Party Chairman, after being unopposed. Hon Fahie was first elected Chairman in 2016 defeating former Chairman, Hon Julian Fraser RA (D3).
Hon Fahie led the VIP to a successful election on February 25, 2019, taking 8 out of 13 seats where his party had a clean sweep in the At-Large race.
President Elected
Also elected was Lemuel L. Smith as the President of the Party. Mr Smith acted as President once the former President, Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (D7) became a candidate for the VIP last year.
It is also our news centre understanding that Hon Neville A. Smith (AL) is the party whip. Other members of the executive committee were not immediately known up to publication time, but it is our understanding that most of the previous executive committee members were re-elected with only three new addition.
The VIP celebrated its 48 anniversary over the weekend with a gala dinner where they honoured its fourth Chairman Hon Fahie.
