Hon de Castro gives teachers a ‘tease’ of ‘reimagined’ ASPS

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Teachers attending Professional Day at Multi-Purpose Sports Complex on August 25, 2025, were left impressed on being shown a 3D architectural design of the new Althea Scatliffe Primary School (ASPS).

The ASPS building was demolished in April 2023 following safety concerns, and the more than 300 affected students were placed at various schools across the territory.

The school is to be rebuilt by Unite BVI, in partnership with the Government of the Virgin Islands.

Hon de Castro had previously announced that differently-abled students of Eslyn Henley Richiez Learning Centre in the Virgin Islands (VI) will be moving into a modern fit-for-purpose facility at John’s Hole on September 8, 2025, when she gave the teachers a visual of the soon-to-be-rebuilt ASPS.

‘More changes coming’

“And I can’t forget some more changes coming. Some change is coming that you have been anticipating. We’ve been begging and pleading and asking and wondering what is happening with the Althea Scatliffe Primary School.

“So on behalf of the Ministry of Education, in partnership with Unite BVI, I want to give you just a small tease of what is coming, of what you can look forward to in the reimagined Althea Scatliffe Primary School.”

Teachers were then shown the exterior and interior designs of the school, and they expressed their satisfaction with loud rounds of applause.

“Yes, reimagined, refocused infrastructure that supports the type of learning that we expect,” Hon de Castro said, stopping short of giving a start and completion date for the building project.

Not surprised by the comments so far! You all are a bunch of cockroaches. Always complaining! Anything positive does come from you all mouth? If God Almighty had show it you all would still find something to complain about.
