Hodge reaches AAU 200m Junior Olympic Final
In the 10 year old girls 200m dash, Adaejah Hodge finished 5th on Thursday August 4, 2016 in the 200m semi-finals to qualify for the final on Saturday August 6, 2016 in a time of 27.68 seconds.
She had run 27.92 in the prelims to progress to the semi-finals.
Hodge had narrowly missed out on progression in the 100m with her prelim time of 14.33 seeing her finish 25th overall and one place outside the semi final qualifications.
Meanwhile, D’Neigh Williams had a disappointing semi-final run in the 13 year old girls 100m, when she finished in 25th overall with a time of 13.11, On Monday, Williams running in Heat 5 of the Girls U13 100m preliminaries finished third in a time of 12.78 seconds and qualified for the semi finals, as one of the fastest finishers, in 16th place overall out of 94 competitors.
She also failed to qualify out of the 200m preliminaries with a time of 26.54 which left her 36th overall.
The AAU was founded in 1888 to establish standards and uniformity in amateur sports. During its early years, the AAU served as a leader in international sport representing the US in the international sports federations. The AAU worked closely with the Olympic movement to prepare athletes for the Olympic Games. After the Amateur Sports Act of 1978, the AAU has focused its efforts into providing sports programmes for all participants of all ages beginning at the grass roots level.
