DUFF'S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- In another bombshell revelation, Speaker of the House of Assembly Hon Julian Willock has said he will accept a call for his resignation by Acting Premier Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7).

Hon Willock made the announcement in his opening statement at the continuation of the Second Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Fourth House of Assembly (HoA) today, Tuesday, May 3, 2022.

According to Hon Willock, this morning he received a phone call from the Acting Premier who advised him that a majority of Members in the HoA agreed that he should demit office.

Speaker says he has done no wrong

“I asked the Acting Premier during the telephone conversation if he was aware that I did anything wrong, he said ‘no’. I asked him if he had any knowledge that I was implicated in any aspect of the Commission of Inquiry Report in anyway, he said ‘no’. I asked the Acting Premier to his knowledge if I was under any active investigation on any matter of governance or misconduct while in office he said ‘no’, so I was surprised with his proposal.”

Hon Willock said he messaged the Acting Premier requesting to be given until the next day to offer his resignation and also to allow him to clear his office, advise his family and speak to his attorney.

Speaker agrees to offer resignation

The Speaker then said he will not disclose what else was said in his conversation or could he speak about any other member of the House of Assembly; however, for the past three years he has conducted himself with dignity and brought much to the House of Assembly, including regional and international presence and respect.

Hon Willock also said he wanted to recognise the hard work and support of the Deputy Speaker and also the clerk, whose unwavering support he has enjoyed.

More info to come- Hon Willock

“I have sought legal advice on this matter and I have agreed with the acting premier to offer my resignation,” Hon Willock said, adding that both Honourable Members and the public will hear more from him on the matter.

In the meantime, the HoA is continuing with the introduction and first reading of the International Tax Authority (Amendment) Act, 2022, and the introduction and first reading of the Education (Amendment) Act, 2022.

Deputy Speaker Hon Neville A. Smith (AL) is in charge of proceedings.

Don't go and waste your money on lawyers eh. Remember that you still have outstanding legal bills. Andy can't help you now and Sowande has pulled the rug.

That's why Fahie was such an idiotic fool. He said he never read blogs. The best wisdom, suggestion, Ideas and constructive criticism come from the blogs where majority of the people congregate...Sowande I was a doubter u have made be a believer. Be very careful with this unity Government. Investigate properly.
