DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- Speaker of the House of Assembly (HoA) of the Virgin Islands (VI), Honourable Julian Willock has postponed the HoA sitting scheduled for Thursday, April 8, 2021.

The reason for the suspension was not given; however, HoA spokesperson Linton V. Leonard informed the media today, April 6, 2021, that after consultation with the Premier Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and the Leader of the Opposition Honourable Marlon A. Penn (R8), Speaker Willock “has agreed to suspend the Seventh Sitting of the Third Session of the Fourth House of Assembly that was previously scheduled for Thursday, 8th April 2021.”

HoA now slated for April 15, 2021

The proposed new date, according to Mr Leonard, is Thursday, April 15, 2021.

“This is in keeping with the power invested in the Honourable Speaker under Standing Order 10 (1) and (5),” Mr Leonard stated.

Some legislators, including the Opposition Leader, have been in self-isolation after being exposed to the coronavirus; however, it is not clear whether that is the main reason behind the postponement.

They needed to postpone it from long.

Can’t be isolating after being exposed to the virus and come out of isolation straight into HOA without testing.
