DUFF'S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI – Senior Legislator and Leader of the Opposition Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3) has accused the Virgin Islands (VI) House of Assembly (HoA) of dropping the ball when it came to honoring the late Queen Elizabeth II after her death on September 8, 2022.

“As the rest of the world mourns, we here in the Virgin Islands mourn as well. This Honourable House for some reason has dropped the ball, because we should have had a special sitting for tributes as a House of Assembly to the Queen on her passing,” he said during the continuation of the Sixth Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Fourth House of Assembly at Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff's Bottom, Tortola today, September 20, 2022.

Condolences to the Royal Family - Hon Fraser

Hon Fraser added, “I wish to extend condolences to the family, the Royal Family, like everyone else. After all, Madam Speaker, the Constitution says there shall be a legislature and it started with the Queen, that will change to the King,” he added.

Hon Fraser further told the House that the death of the Queen will now change a lot of things in the Virgin Islands.

“It only hit me when I learned that the lawyers that I got so used to being called QC’s have to now be KC’s, and I’m like really?” he said.

Hon Fraser said as Leader of the Opposition, he too will no longer be leading Her’s Majesty’s Loyal Opposition, but rather, His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition.

HoA should pay special homage - Hon Fraser

“So it means that indeed, we should pay special homage to the monarch. Madam Speaker, imagine 70 years, that's more years than a whole lot of people in the Virgin Islands have been on this earth, and it's more years than few people in the Virgin Islands have been on the earth and for all those 70 years, Madam Speaker, you can remember Her Majesty the Queen.

“If you live to be 96 and served for 70 of those 96 years, you can have absolutely no regrets. You could only be referred to as a success,” he added.

Members of the House also paid tributes to the late former legislator Cyril Lewis Walters.

WE ARE NOT MOURNING!!! How many people here really care about losing one of our enslaving colonizers? A person along with her elders who enslaved us to gain their wealth. I guess the people here have to be KISS @$$#$ to stay in POLITRICKS. Very disappointed in Fraser whom I thought had more b@lls than that. He would have been better off not saying anything at all. WOW!

How in the world do these people expect our people, the oppressed to mourn our oppressors? They are really too full of themselves. If the shoe were on the other foot and they were oppressed, would they mourn for their oppressor? Hell no! I didn't think so because they are at the top of the food chain and will fight tooth and nail to keep it that way. Let them mourn for their queen, NOT US!!!!!!!

Well Britain was colonized by the Normans and the Brits have been waiting nearly 1,000 years for some recompense. Mind you that’s nothing compared to the 2,000 years they have been hanging on for compensation from the Romans. And they never heard anything from the Vikings, Danes, Jutes, Saxons, or any of those guys with the horns on their helmets and their flash longships either; they just arrived up the river, did a bit of rape and pillage, and off they went.
So, in the end the Brits sort of decided that instead of blaming everyone else for all the ills of their country they’d better just go ahead and look forwards, not backwards. It worked out OK for their little island, so why don’t we try it?!

@@Linda, yours gave up and forgot. We will never forget or forgive the mental and physical destruction that is forced upon us. Go ask the Jews why they don't give up. Because they know without a fight, history will repeat itself. You cannot sweep the horrendous inhumane acts done to us under the rug. If yours choose to do so, that's on you. Trying to act as though everything is peachy keen is a slap in our Ancestors faces. No, we will NEVER FORGET!

Did Fraser finally cut off his hair to show respect to HIS queen? I must admit, he looks better and not like a clown anymore, but what a turncoat he is.

Maybe it’s because her greatest fan Sowande was in the UK? You know he would have made them push this UK agenda.

There are persons who have been sacrificing their life and that of their family trying to make you people understand our reality and the vast majority of you don't even pay attention. The Virgin Islands are not what most of you believe. The reality would scare the pants off of you. Talking loud and saying nothing has become the norm here however that will not change reality. Right now its next to impossible to shed our image as The City of LONDON'S DARK TWIN. The reality is only those who have bound us in this web can free us.

Fraser , it was not intentional. This is what you get when you have a bunch of young out of touch leaders. They did not know better and it speaks volumes . It just shows they are not in their positions for the right reasons. They are just there to line their pockets. It’s such a disrespect.

Fraser I am with you . I know your reason for not liking the Queen but I think you realize the impact she had on the world and the many good things that she have done for her country the people that were in her circle( such as the people that work for her) and her family. The queen lived a life well lived and I think we should honor that. Speaking up when something is wrong speak volumes. It just show that you Fraser is the bigger person . I applaud you !

They need to do a special sitting for the amount of money that was stolen during time in Gov and how much contracts given to family without any work being done.
