DUFF'S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- The continuation of the 7th Sitting of the 4th Session of the 4th House of Assembly (HoA) is scheduled for today, Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 10:00 am at Save the Seed Energy Centre, Duff's Bottom, on the main island of Tortola.

The Sitting is expected to continue with the Liquor License Bill, following a series of public meetings.

At the last Sitting, the HoA held an informal meeting that took up the day.

Also, the public is awaiting to hear answers to a series of questions posed by Opposition Legislator Hon Carvin Malone (AL).

Hon. Fahie & his seat

Many political observers are also watching for the end of the 7th Sitting as it will mean that Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1), the former Premier, will lose his seat in the HoA.

The new Speaker, Honourable Corine N. George–Massicote stated that she will no longer accept apologies from Honourable Fahie, who is in Florida facing charges for alleged drug smuggling and money laundering conspiracies.

Under the Standing Orders Section 84 (1), if a Member is prevented from attending a meeting of the HoA they shall acquaint the Speaker of their inability to attend.

It further stated in section 84 (2) “A member of the House shall vacate his seat if the Member in any one session is absent from the House for more than three consecutive sittings without written leave of the Speaker.”

It is our understanding that the former Premier wrote to the Speaker about his absence. Many persons noted that, according to the Standing Orders, it is now left to the discretion of the Speaker.

It is unclear if the 7th Sitting will end today, as the agenda remains long.

The former Premier, Hon Fahie, who was first elected by the First District in 1999, has won six consecutive elections.

Former Speaker of the HoA Julian Willock when contacted declined to comment and referred us to the new Speaker.

Meanwhile, today's Sitting will be aired LIVE on House of Assembly VI Youtube; House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands Facebook; 780 AM ZBVI Radio; CBN-Radio (90.9 FM); FLOW TV Channel 101; and CCT TV Channel 291.

For so many years now, the BVI has been supported by 3 means of income, the financial sector, tourism, and drugs. Oh, don't act like you are all shocked. Fahie was the only one who got caught because of his own stupidity. Like it or not, it is what it is.

Fahie threw himself under the bus. Stop blaming others for Fahie's doing. No one put a gun to his to his head to do what he is alleged to have been involved in by the US.

He is on tape stating he was in the business for 20 years, and he was the one who left his hotel in Miami to inspect the proceeds of his alleged crime. So stop the madness.

Some people need to stop making excuses for other peoples wrongdoings and take responsibility for their own actions.

That local radio station and others who defending Fahie’s criminal ways just as much criminals themselves for seeing him as a hero and pleading for his release.

YOU CAN’T MAKE A STUPID PERSON UNDERSTAND THEIR STUPIDITY.

Plus, Fahie nor Maynard could fit under any bus..Lol Lol Lol. Maybe when they come back slim and trim from being arrested, which should curb their appetites. Maybe not, some people eat more when they are upset.

If AF is successful in the case against him by the US government then what?

A victory in the court would mean walking back many of the actions taking to sanction him. Restitution for losses and damages and so much more legal implications.

This matter is not even being investigated from an independent point of view. The case should be tried in The Hague or by UN approved court.

Otherwise let him be tried in his home country!

you did read the charges, the video evidence, the voice recordings? You are part of the problem in the BVI, yiou are keeping us a territory ran by crooks not letting us become a country
    • Guest (18/10/2022, 13:10) Like (29) Dislike (0) Reply
Even if Andrew Fahie is acquitted of these charges in Miami, he will still have to satisfactorily explain to the electorate of the BVI what he was doing down at Opa Locka Airport on April 28th, 2022. That is the only way for him to rehabilitate his tarnished image. Those who seek to blame the Governor, the Premier, the Speaker and everyone else except Fahie himself for this debacle are in denial.

the head coach got trip & trap in a sting operation: the head coach had the option to inform the local law enforcement that he beings asked my an individual to break the written laws of our territory

the head coach was the one who made his way out on that airport in miami and see what the head coach probable case was(the blatant involvement in an undercover sting DEA investigation)

I miss the head coach but being the head coach know better: the old cat got fooled by the kitten

@Fahie is done, Maynard is the one that is going to sink Fahie for a deal. I don’t blame her one bit. A woman will always be a man’s downfall. She was part of the sting that took his greedy behind down. Keep telling you men don’t underestimate or think a woman is weak. A woman always keep receipts. This is coming from a man that was taken down by a woman that left me without a pair of cheap socks.

Remember now, MAYNARD DID NOT TOUCH ANY MONEY ON THE PRIVATE JET, ANDREW DID. ALSO REMEMBER WOMEN LOVE DESIGNER BAGS AND SHE DID NOT MAKE ANY ATTEMPT TO TOUCH ANY OF THE DESIGNER BAGS FILLED WITH MARKED MONEY. SHE GOT CLIP BECAUSE SHE WAS WITH ANDREW ON THE PRIVATE JET. SHE IS GOING TO MAKE A DEAL. SHE IS NOT FIGHTING TO GET OUT OF JAIL BEFORE THE TRIAL STARTS LIKE ANDREW DID.
