HoA continues April 14, 2022; Food Security Bill still in ‘Committee’

DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- The 2nd Sitting of the 4th Session of the 4th House of Assembly (HoA) is scheduled to continue Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Save the Seed Energy Centre, on the main island of Tortola.

According to a release from an HoA spokeswoman Tameeka George, “the House will be in committee with the continuation of the Virgin Islands Food Security and Sustainability Act, 2022.”

The Bill was brought to the legislature by Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7).

The Bill is to eliminate the Agriculture Department and turn the Fishing and Farming sectors into a statutory body to be run by a Board. 

Next Bill

Following this Bill, according to the Order Paper, the next bill is the Water and Sewerage Authority Act, 2021 to be brought to the floor by the Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities Honourable Kye M. Rymer (R5).

This Bill will make the Water and Sewerage Department a statutory body governed by a Board.

The HoA will be carried live on ZBVI 780 AM, CBN Radio 90.9 FM, CBN-Television Channel 101 on Flow TV and can also be followed on the HoA YoutTube channel and online at www.cbnvirginislands.com.
