HLSCC to host Summer Camp for children ages 9-15
The camp, which will be hosted on the College’s Main Campus in Paraquita Bay from July 5 through 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and will expose participants to a range of interesting and exciting activities such as life skills (goal setting, effective communication, leadership building and decision making), historical tours, local storytelling, entrepreneurship and financial literacy, STEM activities (primarily science and mathematics), culinary skills (easy breakfasts and lunches, safety skills and etiquette) and environmental and mangrove tours and the performing arts.
Students can also participate in sporting activities such as archery, volleyball, and football basics, based on their choices.
Vice President of Academic Affairs at HLSCC, Dr. Arlene Smith-Thompson said, “HLSCC sees the introduction of this Summer Camp as an important bridge that will not only expose the young people in our community to the college environment but also as an opportunity to pique their interest in particular future careers as a result of their experiences.”
The Vice President added, “I am encouraging parents to take advantage of this opportunity for their children to engage in rich experiential learning through HLSCC’s summer camp.”
The cost of the camp is $140 for two weeks or $75.00 for one week. Affordable snacks and meals will be available for purchase on-campus.
