HLSCC Highland Spring Race Series concludes Saturday

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The 4th and final race of the 20th H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) Highland Spring College Classic takes place on the campus at Paraquita Bay, Tortola on Saturday November 14, 2015.

The final race will also be in support of 'Movember', the movement to increase awareness in men’s health.

With three races now completed, and heading into the final race, it is a clear path to the championship for Reuben J. A. Stoby (Open Men's division), One milers Sam Potgieter and Akeela McMaster, and teams Cedar Secondary and Digicel (Community partners division).

The champions for the Women's Open, Primary and Service Club divisions are left to be determined.

Meanwhile, the Virgin Gorda leg of the Race Series came to a close last Saturday, November 7, 2015 with Curwin Andrews becoming a two-time overall champion after being pulled by newcomer Vincent Fournier.

Fournier recorded an excellent time of 10:52.53 en route to victory as wells as youngster Samuel Romney who placed second in 11:14.87. Britney Peters of Raw Skillz was crowned the 2015 Women's Champion and also the Outstanding Female HLSCC participant. She was accompanied by Keanu George as the Outstanding Male HLSCC participant.

Team Harrigan House from Bregado Flax Secondary was led to victory by Outstanding Secondary Female J'Sally O'Neal while Team Steven's Stallions of Bregado Flax Primary was the winner in the Primary division.

Race Director Stephanie Russ Penn was joined by Dr Karl Dawson, HLSCC President, in awarding and congratulating the participants. Both extended on behalf of HLSCC continued gratitude to the Virgin Gorda Community for their continued support of the event. Special thanks were also directed to the Valley Sound Lions for their assistance during the awards ceremony.

Roads lead back to Paraquita Bay on Saturday November 14, 2015 for the final race of the Tortola leg. For more information, please contact Ms Russ Penn, 852-7216. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and race starts at 7:00 a.m.
