Hitchhiker takes off with driver’s wallet!

A man who offered a hitchhiker a ride recently ended up losing his wallet containing cash and bank and Identification cards. Photo: Internet Source
SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- When a man extended a kind deed of offering another a ride, the last thing he expected was to be robbed by the very person he was trying to help.

This was the reality for a Sea Cows Bay man who offered a ride to someone not known to him personally around 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 14, 2021, according to reports reaching our newsroom.

Heading to Sea Cows Bay, the Good Samaritan reportedly gave the hitchhiker a ride. He subsequently made a brief stop at The Boys Gas Station where he got out the vehicle but upon returning to collect his wallet, discovered it missing.

The wallet was reportedly left between the two front seats and contained $100, credit, bank and Belonger’s cards, driver’s license, the keys to his home and that of a business establishment.

It’s alleged the hitchhiker exited the vehicle at the same time the driver did at the gas station, but he did not take note of which direction the culprit went.

The kind-hearted driver was left unable to pay his bill at the gas station.

This is just sad for people like me who catches ride. Just like how the unlawful scooter riders made it difficult for the lawyers riders, this will make it harder for we the honest hitch hikers.

I would often pass people on the road looking for a ride but I don’t stop because I am afraid that this might happen. As a woman driving alone, I can’t take that chance. There is to much crazy things going on in this place.

Same here and I beg God to forgive me every time because I truly don't want to pass someone in need but I am scared that it will happen to me or worse and then what would become of my children?

I feel bad about passing people on the road trying to get a ride but, better safe than sorry. I am just scared that the person I offer a ride might pull out a gun or knife and rob me or worse.

We have one last chance to save this place and it’s we the people that going to save it not the politicians. If we don’t get some balls and back bones and let these politicians or any one who thinking of being a politician that play time over up in here. Might as well we all go find a spot in your favorite grave yard from now.

As a senior woman, I do not pick up strangers because I know I cannot defend myself if a hitch hiker tried to rob me. These brazen people are not the same kind hearted people I grew up with, Sorry, but not sorry.

Let’s hope it’s he just misplaced it. Something similar happened to me —and I blamed my passenger! I later found the item down between the seat where it had fallen. I felt really bad for all the things I said....

@ Hopefully mistake, I respect a person like you for boldly coming forward and admitting to making a mistake, we are all guilty of that at times, blaming others wrongly,
My mother out law blamed me several years ogo of stealing $ 3500 from her and it hurt me so much even when I told it wasn't me, she took my name to the street, on another occasion she missed $800 and blamed another young lady, long and short of the story , few year after she found oyt it was her own grand daughter who was stealing from her and paying men for sex, she she wanted to fit in, she was morbidly obese, suffice to say that very young lady is right now in jail in France for thief, she is 25 years old at the tine she was 16 years.
That oldbat never apologized so I took my queries to God and he vindicatedc me publicly

I always move anything that might be picked up by an opportunist. When I stop, my bag goes to the back, my phone moves to my door pocket. Regardless of who I am picking up. No temptation no opportunity.
