ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Outgoing Governor of the Virgin Islands (VI), H.E. Augustus J. U. Jaspert aka ‘Gus’ will be delivering his final Speech from the Throne when the First Sitting of the Third Session of the Fourth House of Assembly tomorrow, Thursday, November 5, 2020.

In the speech written by the Government of the day and given to the Governor, Mr Jaspert will lay down the Administration’s legislative agenda for a new legislative season.

COVID-19 & Economy high on agenda

This year’s Throne Speech comes as the government continues to navigate an unpredictable year of managing the COVID-19 pandemic, which officially begun when the territory confirmed its first two imported case of the virus on March 25, 2020.

The new Throne Speech also comes as the Governor is yet to assent to at least 3 pieces of legislation passed in the House during 2020, including the VI Cannabis Licensing Act, 2020, which was passed in July of 2020.

The other two pieces of legislation are the Advance Passenger Information Act, 2020, passed in June and the Drugs (Prevention of Misuse) (Amendment) Act, 2020, passed in July.

No assent to the Cannabis Act that is essential for the territory to establish its medicinal marijuana industry through the cultivation of cannabis on local farmlands, means the VI continues to lose industry revenues at the hands of the Governor.

The HoA proceedings will be carried live on CBN Radio 90.9 FM, CBN-Television Channel 101 on Flow TV and can also be followed on the HoA YoutTube channel and online at www.cbnvirginislands.com.

It is time for this Jonah Governor to pack his bags and leave us in peace. He needs to get back to a non public facing role in the UK Government.

The Governor sits on his throne, looking down at you and others such as yourself who are practicing examples of delusionary low class misfits. Have a seat on the mat, the queen 's mat and await your now and then handouts.
