ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Virgin Islands (VI) Department of Disaster Management (DDM) has indicated that a high surf advisory is in effect for the territory today, Saturday, November 25, 2023, however, it remains unclear how long the advisory will last.

The DDM added that as such, the weather forest for today is that a broad area of high pressure is the dominant feature across the Leeward Islands, while a weak low-level trough along with available moisture is affecting the British Virgin Islands.

Weather today: Cloudy with a possible 70 per cent chance of showers and tonight persons in the VI can expect Partly cloudy conditions with a 40% or a moderate chance of showers.

Winds: East-southeast at 11 to 22 km/h or 7 to 14 mph.

Seas: 1.5 to 2.1 metres or 5 to 7 feet, with swells reaching 1.8 metres or 6 feet. The high surf advisory remains in effect.

Sunset today:  5:41 pm.

A high surf warning means that dangerous battering waves, with surfs of over 3 metres or over 10 feet, will pound the shoreline and persons are being advised to stay away from rocky and or coastal structures along beaches in the affected areas.
