Hawks fly high with two wins in ‘Big Man’ League

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - As the Berth “Big Man” Henley Fast Pitch Softball League continued last week there were big wins for the Pythons, 22-8, over the Lady Crushers and the Hawks who beat both the West End Warriors and the Rams.

Following the break from action last weekend play resumed on Wednesday at the Old Recreational Grounds with the Pythons defeating the Lady Crushers 22-8. The Pythons had 22 runs, 10 hits, 1 error and left 6 runners on base, whilst the Lady Crushers had 8 runs, 4 hits, 10 errors and left 6 runners on base.

The winning pitcher was Thea Cooke and the loser was Wanda Blyden. Tyalia Nibbs of Pythons went 2-3 with a home run, 2 runs scored, and 4 runs batted in and Valissia Braithwaite went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 runs batted in. Sherna Robinson of Lady Crushers went 1-3 with 2 runs batted in.

On Thursday Power Outage defeated the Pirates 13-4. Power Outage had 13 runs, 11 hits, 2 errors and left 7 runners on base, the Pirates had 4 runs, 9 hits, 3 errors and left 2 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Neville Smith and the loser was Allen Smith. Jeremy Penn and Levron Saurauw homered for Power Outage and so did Tramore Frazer and Nateshon Thomas of Pirates.

Two games then took place on Friday with the Hawks defeating the ESHS Rams 16-11. Hawks had 16 runs, 8 hits, 4 errors and left 7 runners on base. ESHS Rams had 11 runs, 7 hits, 10 errors and left 10 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Laura Isaac and the loser was Shoniqua Fahie. Alicia Lima, Laura Isaac and Misha Walters each scored 3 runs for Hawks. Lima also had a home run. Javlyn Frett of ESHS Rams went 3-4 with 2 doubles, a triple, 2 runs scored and 4 runs batted in.

In the Men’s Division the Reds defeated Dominicanos 13-5. Reds had 13 runs, 12 hits, 0 errors and left 7 runners on base. Dominicanos had 5 runs, 10 hits, 4 errors and left 6 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Jason Fonseca and the loser was Reynold Corum.

Timothy Brewer of Reds went 3-3 with 2 doubles, a home run, 2 runs scored and 3 runs batted in and Michael Vanterpool went 2-4 with 2 doubles, a run scored and a run batted in. Eddy Morales of Dominicanos went 2-3 with a double, a triple, 2 runs scored and2 runs batted in.

On Sunday the Hawks defeated West End Warriors 14-9. Hawks had 14 runs, 11 hits, 5 errors and left 6 runners on base. West End Warriors had 9 runs, 5 hits, 6 errors and left 9 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Perline Scatliffe-Leonard and the loser was Sarah Potter.

Erica Frederick of Hawks went 3-4 with a triple, 2 runs scored and a run batted in and Khiayah Doward went 1-4 with a home run and 2 runs batted in. Kenesha Stoutt of West End Warriors went 2-3 with 3 runs scored and a run batted in.

And the last game of the day saw the Dominicanos beat the Blue Wings 8-3. Dominicanos had 8 runs, 8 hits, 1 error and left 7 runners on base. Blue Wings had 3 runs, 10 hits, 2 errors and left 8 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Yervis Rodriguez and the loser was Alfred Maduro.

Edward Venzen of Dominicanos went 3-3 with 2 runs scored and a run batted in and George Veras went 1-4 with a home run, 2 runs scored and a run batted in. Kye Rymer of Blue Wings went 3-3 with 2 runs scored.
