ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Harneys is offering Virgin Islands' (VI) residents, ages 18 and over, the opportunity to have their simple Wills written, revised or updated free of charge.

According to a press release from the law firm today, September 21, 2021, the free offer is to help members of the community achieve peace of mind and security in these "uncertain times".

The drive starts on September 20, 2021, through October 8, 2021.

Last year's drive a success

In September 2020, the firm’s annual free BVI Wills drive resulted in over 40 free simple Wills being drawn up for members of the community ages 60 and up. Due to the success of last year’s drive, Harneys has extended the opportunity to the wider community this year.

Head of Harneys BVI Private Wealth, Ayana S. Hull commented: “The events of the last few years, whether it is hurricanes or global pandemics, have reminded us of the preciousness and fragility of life. During these unprecedented times, we have all had the opportunity to reflect and acknowledge that it is important to ensure that our affairs are in order during, and after our lifetime. I am proud to be associated with a law firm that is offering assistance to those in the community, who may not be in a position to make these arrangements, the opportunity to do so free of charge.”

About Harneys

Harneys was established in the VI in 1960 as the only legal practice on Tortola, and the first of its kind in the territory.

According to the press release, Harneys stands on the global stage as a leading law firm, consistently listed, awarded and ranked amongst the best and brightest in the offshore industry.

"We are deeply rooted in the BVI history and culture, and as a firm, we strongly believe in giving back to our community and supporting in times of crisis wherever we can. We believe in investing in our local communities through time, money and expertise," the press release stated.

To register, persons can go to www.harneys.com/freebviwills.

It said appointments are limited and will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

I'm sorry, but a peace of mind, with regards to estate planning, comes ONLY, from having revocable/irrevocable trusts in place, not a will.

Wills can be changed on a death bed, conspirings with lawyers, and just having an x placed on a document while a victim is in a comotose state, is the only reason, I feel, " crooked" officers of the courts, would rally around this type of nonsense!

And many attorneys are fully aware of this!

But you see, wills generate probates in courts which costs lots of monies, while trusts are distributed , quietly by legal counsels to heirs, IMMEDIATELY, upon the death of the the trustee!

    No court battles necessary!

Trusts, trusts, and only trusts, SHOULD BE the only way we all should go, if we truly want our assets to be distributed, to the persons we want, long after death!

Just curious, wills mean organising property over death. Is the territory expecting death on a large scale soon? We have 5G trying to roll out globally (which while testing killed many birds and humans) and also these new mrna vaccines thats killing people world wide. The Vaccine expert said in a live video that the life span of people who took these new vaccines have a life span of two years (Lets monitor 2023 closely god spare life). Please clarify so we can put our house in order.
