Haiti Names New Permanent Representative to OAS
Haiti has appointed its new Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States.
New envoy Bocchit Edmond presented his credentials last week to OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza in a ceremony at OAS headquarters in Washington.
Edmond succeeds former Permanent Representative Duly Brutus, who is now serving as Haiti’s Foreign Minister following a Cabinet reshuffle.
Edmond, who also serves as Vice Chair of the OAS’ Committee on Juridical and Political Affairs, said Haiti “has faith in the OAS” and the future of the regional institution.
Insulza said the regional body’s relationship with Haiti was “very important,” pointing to the work of the OAS Group of Friends of Haiti as an example.
