LONG BUSH, Tortola, VI- Shortly after exiting a popular nightclub in Long Bush, on the main island of Tortola, a man fell victim to an armed robber in the vicinity of the E. Walwyn Brewley Softball Field in the wee hours of Sunday, December 13, 2020.

According to reports reaching our news centre, the victim was walking ahead of another person when the armed and 'masked' individual emerged from behind a bleacher and pounced upon the men.

The armed robber placed the gun to the victim's head as he relieved him of this gold chain, according to reports.

Upon seeing what was happening, the second man ran off in the opposite direction. This resulted in the gunman allegedly firing a shot but no one was hit.

Police, according to reports, have since recovered one spent shell in the area.

Gold chain snatched

It was on December 5, 2020, that a male teenager was robbed of a $4000.00 ‘Gucci’ gold chain, which was allegedly snatched by a masked individual in the Wickham’s Cay 1 area.

A masked Gunman “relieved” victim of his gold chain??
    Are you KIDDING??!!
Being robbed at gunpoint should not be described as being “relieved” of something. The gunman was criminally assaulting the victim, holding a gun to his head, in order to steal his gold chain.
    Say it straight.

Someone has hired and is paying a group of young men to snatch people gold off their necks. The gold is melted down and sold for a profit. Someone is going to get hurt or worse behind this. I caution everyone if you wear your gold, be aware of your surroundings out here on the streets.

Please warriors, cease the verbal ongoing war against one another. Does verbally attacking others that you don't agree with solve the latest gun robbery? And do it solve the others unsolved ones. Can't you see that you (some of us) are earring and showing the rest of the world the infancy of our mind set. And then we want to get to side with us that the B.V.I are is ready for indepedence. Question: If a people is at war with each others while being ruled by a stronger power, would they come to know peace among themselves, if they were given independence? Answer: No! I hope that the robber or robbers would be caught, and justice served.

    Note...Tourists read the news.

I am not even bothering to read the rest of the story. I am too upset. Apparently it is nothing new under the moon.

I find it quite appalling that noone has reported those close to 20 gun shots I heard around onemart vicinity last night. Especoally those that were scrambling after. The BVI norm with these young people is truly a worrying thing. No wonder people are being shot high day and no one is reporting anything. People are either afraid or don't care. I just do not understand it. They say no news is good news so hopefully no news of those gun shots mean no one was injured. Sighhh!!!

Ayo think ayo bad wearing these big chains late night knowing ppl watching and lurking. Be smart, wear your small chains to lime at night. Stop being a target to these scums who just want to take what you work hard for.
