ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Local resident and businessman with a heart of gold Mr Allington O. Creque aka ‘Gumption’ has used his creativity and will to help raise some $3500 for Family Support Network’s pantry.

After learning of a recent breaking at FSN on Challwell Street where items from its already struggling pantry were taken, Mr Creque committed to donating $500 of his personal funds to FSN and challenged local businesses to match his amount.

‘Timely’ assistance

The support was overwhelming, as in a short space of time $3500 in checks and vouchers was secured and other pledges were made.

Among the businesses and individuals that took on the challenge were One Mart Superstore, Bobby’s, Unite BVI and the Haycrafts.

Mr Creque presented the vouchers and cheques to FSN today, August 30, 2023.

Representatives of FSN said the assistance is very timely since it is the period close to reopening of schools and FSN usually sees an increase in families reaching out for assistance.

Great job indeed! Taking on such a dire initiative to raise funds to minimize hunger in the BVI is well commended. Blessings on being selfless/giving. A root cause of hunger in the BVI are grocery store such as Riteway that has products wayyyy overpriced and SIGNIFICANT profit margin. With THOUSANDS of products/lbs of produce going to waste weekly/regularly. With medications such as Moltrin, Tylenol, etc sitting on their shelves with expiration dates past or soon expiring at FULL price. Then would have sales knowing most consumers do not pay attention to expiration dates and would not get the best use of some products. We the consumers need to stand up against such ridiculousness in the BVI. Decent prices would result in more meals for himes and less products/produce going to WASTE and burnt at Pockwood Pond. Good job again Gumption.

Where is your proof for these allegations, and what does it have to do with a mentally challenged person breaking into FSN?

I do not know this young chap Gumption personally but he seems to answer the call quite regularly and is a good example for other business and civic minded persons in the community of more substantial means to follow his lead.

Kudos to Gumption and the organisations that stepped forward to assist in this time of need. Keep up the good works.

Now will the thief/thieves who broke in to the FSN office and STOLE what did not belong to them, do the right thing and RETURN what they took? Thou shall not steal. Despicable piece of worthless humanity.

It is because of people like this kind hearted young man why so many others are blessed. He doesn’t count the cost or even wait to be asked. He sees the needs and he takes on the challenge single handedly to help. What a blessing! What a blessing! I do not know him personally but I pray that God will continue to favor him and multiply his blessings as he continues to bless others.
