SPANISH TOWN, Virgin Gorda, VI - A Virgin Islander has embraced the true spirit of the season by generously donating his entire paycheck and Christmas bonus to help rebuild three homes in St Elizabeth, Jamaica.

Donated his entire paycheck & christmas bonus to rebuild the homes

Allington O. Creque, also known as ‘Gumption,’ is an entrepreneur and philanthropist who owns and operates Gumption’s Experience BVI. In a Facebook post on Sunday, December 14, 2025, he stated, “This December, I donated my entire paycheck and Christmas bonus, with Gumption's Experience BVI matching the contribution, to rebuild three homes in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica.”

Following the devastation caused by Category 5 hurricane Melissa, which made landfall on the Caribbean island of Jamaica in October, many families and individuals were left without a home; hence, this donation will greatly assist the beneficiaries in building back.

Currently, people in Jamaica are genuinely in a stressful and vulnerable position, and Creque, who also lost heavily during hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, understands exactly what they’re going through.

Construction begins Tuesday

According to the post, a registered and licensed construction company has committed to completing the work, requesting only food and drinks for the team after each build. Creque stated, “I gladly agreed to this, and construction begins Tuesday.”

He also referenced a previous contribution made eight years ago, saying, “I handed Anderson Hamm the keys to his home with the help of God and community support.”

Creque added, “Today, I’m on that same mission—this time doing it myself. If help comes, I’ll accept it, but I’m not waiting on it. I’ve already paid 50% of the cost, with the remaining half to be paid upon completion.”

The beneficiaries are elderly individuals

The beneficiaries of the homes are 58, 68, and 77 years old. Creque mentioned that “one of them is currently sleeping in a chicken coop after losing his home.”

“Too often, the elderly are left behind, and caring for them—just like caring for our youth—feels spiritually right to me,” he said. He noted that the “Andy Hamm project showed me this is possible. I’m grateful to be in a position to do it again—and to do it right.”

When asked for a comment on his generous donation, Creque stated that he would prefer to discuss it further once the homes are completed.
