Grand turn out marks Long Bush Christmas Day parade!
The activity marked its 7th anniversary this year as participants waved the theme banner ‘Tis the Season’. It was indeed the season for love, family, friends and good cheer as hundreds dressed in their Christmas day best had a gallant afternoon parading the streets.
The parade featured a dazzling display of colourful troupes and floats. Prominent and well decorated was the troupe sponsored by the Minister for Communicartions and Works and Representative for the Fourth District Honourable Mark H. Vanterpool.
As promised by the organizers, there was also the nativity scene, Santa Claus and Rudolph, Frosty, Santa’s workshop and the jolly Christmas village.
Spectators lining the parade were treated to a spectacular parade of holiday music, twirling angels, dancing reindeer, synchronized Santa helpers, Moco Jumbies, Macho elves, and a host of other Christmas characters.
There were four demonstration points, along the parade route - the Sunday Morning Well, The Basket Ball Court in Huntum’s Ghut, The Tree in Lower Estate, and the Band Stand in Long Bush.
As the beautiful sights along the parade route were filled with bright colours, children dancing, and much excitement, some politicians were doing the usual politicking with residents, as this was the case with both Hon Vanterpool and Minister for Education and Culture Honourable Myron V. Walwyn, two of the few elected officials spotted at the event.
Another point worthy of mention was the number of fathers who took the time to be with their children and other members of their family.
