Gov’t 'worked hard' to deliver on promises despite COVID-19, CoI setbacks– Premier

-Projects back on track include ESHS & JvD Primary School developments

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islands Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has reiterated that his Virgin Islands Party Government (VIP) has worked to deliver on its 2019 election campaign promises, despite the challenges created by COVID-19 pandemic and the United Kingdom-sponsored Commission of Inquiry (CoI) over the past year.

“As we continue to the third year milestone of your government in office, You can see your government has been working hard through the challenges such as COVID-19  and even while coping with hefty demands of a very broad Commission of Inquiry terms of reference,” he said.

Premier Andrew A. Fahie (R1) was at the time speaking during a press conference on February 25, 2022, on current matters in the territory.

“You can see that your government has done a lot and delivered on many of our promises. Yes, some have been delayed, but that's natural for every government in the world that had to face COVID-19,” he added.

Hon Fahie added that throughout the challenges, the Government has been managing the economy and its finances very responsibly.

“In the year ahead, we will be working harder than before and pushing forward a greater enthusiasm,” he added.

The Premier highlighted projects like the Elmore stout High School (ESHS) and its redevelopment and construction project, with the intent to have it completed so that students are fully back on campus for September.

He said other developments will come for the Jost van Dyke Primary School through RDA tendering.

“We will see many other areas that that were delayed due to COVID-19, but now are fully engaged moving forward,” Hon Fahie added.

“For all that we have done and all that we will do, we give God the glory, and we ask him to continue to bless and protect these Virgin Islands and its people who have made these islands their home,” Hon Fahie added.
