ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The government of the Virgin Islands (VI), through the Virgin Islands Recovery Development Agency (RDA), is expected to inject millions into the local economy this year.

This was revealed by RDA Chief Executive Officer, Anthony S. McMaster, during the contract signing ceremony for Roof and Lightning Protection System Repairs to the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital and Annex Buildings between the RDA and KM Construction, on March 31, 2026.

KM Construction was successful in its bid for this particular project.

“This contract also represents a local capital injection into the local economy of $200,000 in this instance,” McMaster said, adding there’s more to come throughout the year.

The opportunities are there

McMaster revealed that during this financial year, the government, through the RDA, is expected to inject over $12 millin into the local economy.

“Contractors, designers, sharpen your pencils, make sure there’s ink in your pen because the opportunities are there.”

He reminded that there are two pre-qualification tenders out currently, for the Agricultural Complex and the Immigration Detention Centre.

“So I would say take the opportunity while they are there…put your documents together and submit them so that you can get pre-qualified for such opportunities as they arise.”

Work to be undertaken at the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital and its Annex Buildings is expected to commence on April 20, 2026, and last for four months.

Why is the hospital parking lot closed off? Why the entrance closed off.? Why are they so many reserves parking? Customers should be priority, instead of all these reserve parking for staff, it should be reserved parking for emergency patience..Let staff find parking..Those that need reserve parking getting below by the road.

VIP government promises are comfort mostly to big money collecters. How much of the $12M is expected in hand for minimum wage and other low income earners, low pension earners, low salary hospital workers. Ou, and not to be left unmentiored, and to cleanup and fix the filty looking, sewerage-water-running roads in the 7th district. And why is Geen Land Field area now the latest new direlect vehicle graveyard spot next to Francis Lettsome's school? Still continue starting new project that will definitely not be completed anytime soon? And why?
