BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- Social Commentator and Host of Honestly Speaking, Pastor Claude O. Skelton-Cline, is urging the government of the Virgin Islands (VI) to construct a fuel reserve tank for the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC).

He said this while addressing the cost-of-living issues of food and fuel on the October 13, 2026, episode of his show.

“I am calling upon this government to set aside a couple million dollars and build our own one million-dollar reserve fuel tank for BVIEC. As a matter of fact, BVIEC needs to lead the charge.”

Land available @Pockwood Pond

Pastor Skelton-Cline said the land and money are available, and now it is up to the government to move ahead to protect energy and ultimately industry in the VI.

“They tell me right now in Pockwood Pond, we have sufficient land to commission and build, and we must do it for ourselves and it can’t cost more than a couple million dollars.”

Mr Skelton-Cline said these are among priority areas, adding that this is why he continues to advocate for more concern about food and fuel security.

“We must not be satisfied with the lip service of a Memorandum of Understanding being signed with Santo Domingo, with the Dominican Republic, and or elsewhere. There must be some sense of urgency on behalf of the government of the day to move in securing food and fuel for the people, for the citizens of this country.”

This is actually a good idea. All necessities of The Virgin Islands should have some kind of reserve/stock put away for emergencies.
