BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islands (VI) Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) says as a result of delays on the Government’s agenda brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, a revised Virgin Islands Party (VIP) manifesto will be released for the next 22 months.

In a speech during the May 4, 2021, edition of ‘VIP Let’s Talk,’ Premier Fahie said, “It goes without saying that COVID-19 has delayed your Government’s agenda over the last year but with just under two years left in our term, we aim to make up for lost opportunities and to make up ground.”

Gov't reviewing at progress over past 26 months - Premier

The Leader of Government Business said that his administration is presently reviewing its progress over the past 26 months and matching it back to the commitments made in the original 2019 manifesto.

“We are aiming to develop a revised manifesto to help us to zero in on targets for the 22 months ahead, and to ensure that despite the COVID-19 disruption, you get value for your vote.”

He said the target date for the revised manifesto in electronic form is June 2021, with the aim of informing persons so that they can prepare and position themselves for new opportunities.

“My Virgin Islands people, I must tell you that I am very proud of how we have conducted ourselves as a Territory, as a People and as a community in the face of recent challenges such as Irma and COVID-19. Virgin Islanders may get knocked off our feet or pushed back, but we do not stay down,” Hon Fahie said.

Some persons always 'Looking to find fault' - Premier

The Premier reminded, however, that despite the strides made by his government in managing the pandemic and associated challenges, some persons are only looking to find fault.

“There are those who for their own reasons will not see and speak of the rose, but only the thorns; always looking to find fault and to criticize us. And while there is always constructive criticism, they do it without care for how it damages our Territory’s image,” Premier Fahie said.

As a local business man and a hustler I’ll be catering to all the non vaccinated people especially since the percentage of us “unvaccinated” are the majority. Don’t mind the noise ! Even if I got to hire y’all ! All of we is one !

Many do not support oil not base decision relative to its workers and the vaccine. It is simply inhumane on many, many levels.

Further, next, they, oil nut bay may be filling its position with foriegn white employes under the guise that local Bleck did not vaccinate.

Government, as usualis is not protecting its people from the hidden evil of people and their racism.

We all know the government is broke, so to get anything meaningful done, they will need funding, such funding may need the backing of UK,. Which may not be forth coming especially with the present COI going on...I wish the Premier luck but we in a deep Pit.,. He will need a special medal if he can get us out. Good luck Mr Premier..

Covid-19 has destroy ALL countries financing including the UK so let us not pretend as if only the BVI has issues. Overall the BVI still has done well and Fahie and his government must be commended.

These news site needs to find away to restrict bloggers to no more than two bligs on each news story. U can almost tell when the same person is blogging 4-5-6 times, they messaging is tge same, they support their own bligs, they do common letters then come back with all Caps... I think BVI platnum does it...They know the bloggers so its nothing hard to do,, the same way you are restricted to liking your own blogs, the same thing can happen to blogging restrict them to 2 a person...Give the thing more credibility...a more serious approach...

Especially for the site in bvi that carries the bvi name and news at the back. They only accept and post blogs against the VIP Government from the same persons over and over and over on all stories they post daily. Now that is a disgrace.
