Gov’t offices to ‘resume normal operations’ tomorrow Oct 5

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Asked to stay home today due to the impact of Tropical Storm Philippe, public officers have been told they must return to work tomorrow, Thursday, October 5, 2023.

According to a circular to Heads of Departments and other senior civil servants, Deputy Governor David D. Archer Jr said following a thorough inspection of offices he was pleased to announce that all Government offices will reopen for normal operations tomorrow at 8:00 AM.

Heads of Departments were asked to assess their offices once again to ensure that all facilities were ready for operation.

Essential workers commended

Mr Archer Jr also took the opportunity to extend his “deepest gratitude” to essential officers who he said have worked tirelessly to mitigate the damages caused by the storm.

“Your dedication and resilience have been instrumental in maintaining our Territory's safety and security. I would also like to thank everyone for adhering to the instructions from the Department of Disaster Management and staying at home during this period. Your cooperation and understanding have been invaluable,” Mr Archer Jr said.

    We commend the Government for their quick response. Thank you VINO for posting comments that are for or against government at all times. At least you all are not like that wicked online tabloid who mostly post negative comments against the BVI, its people, public officers, and leaders. They mostly post comments asking UK to take over although the majority of real BVI people feel otherwise and submitted comments to them stating such but they are never post by that bias tabloid.

    No country has an infrastructure that can withstand mother nature so let us be thankful and stop the unnecessary complaining and ungratefulness in matters such as these.

    I do agree that whilst it is essential that the public stay at home the roads were cleared, electricity was restored and we dont often sent thanks to the essential workers that forego their own issues to sort us out. THANK YOU

    These people going on about Irma Irma Irma every year, even celebrating the anniversary every year, we have to remember EVERY YEAR but a little flood and the country shut down? So what is the point?

    Wed. was a storm holiday. Looks more like a 4 day weekend for the public servants. Hopefully they will all be back to work by Monday 9 Oct.
