ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islands (VI) Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Honourable Dr. Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has said that his Government is embarking on a reporting initiative dubbed, “Government in Motion”, to provide updates to the public after being in office for just over six months.

“In the next few weeks, I, along with my Ministers and Junior Ministers, will provide the public with a review of progress in our areas of responsibility and as a government as a whole,” the Premier said in a recent press conference.

He added that as previously stated, his administration will prioritize transparency and good governance, inclusive of updating the public on the achievements made in alignment with the Government’s legislative agenda.

The Premier said the initiative will ensure that progress updates will include areas not directly related to the COI implementation process.

Gov't has continued dedication to progress - Premier

Instead, “Government in Motion” will demonstrate the Government’s overarching mandate and its continuous dedication to progress, underpinned by its commitment to sustainable development, which will benefit the people of the Virgin Islands.

“We will seek to communicate the greater achievements of the Government to not only action recommendations but also demonstrate actions to effect change and create new policies,” he added.

These new Government in motion updates will be carried live on the Government’s official Facebook page, ZBVI, and CBN Radio.

Talking to the people is good. Talking to the people is not the problem. Listening to the people is the problem. You all not listening to the people, when the people say things ruff you either don't believe or you all don't care. You all always have water and electricity you all don't pay for, you all driving these expensive vehicles you all don't pay for you can hardly feel the shock when they drop in pot holes...You all doing nothing to improve lives and living conditions. Do something to bring relief to us. Not talk. I am reading people calling for an immediate tax exemption amt increase for those making below $30 gran annually. That sounds reasonable and very practicable..

Shed the catchy slogans, ie, Government in Motion, 1000 Jobs in a 1000 days, etc,,with no substance , loud thunderous swirling dark clouds but not rain for quiet concrete actions, positive outcomes and results.

This is all hat and no cattle, an old Texas ranchers idiom I borrowed from manjack in another blog. What is all hat and no cattle. Well, it applies to pretenders who dress up eith cowboy hats but have no cattle.

The all hat no cattle, though a Texas ranchers idiom , it has an applicable point, perhaps. Nevertheless, we need to take a peek at German sociologist Max Weber three styles of leadership, viz, traditional, rational legal,,and charismatic. What style is this government in motion?

The focus should be primarily on delivering the most services to the most people, resource’s permitting. The catchy slogans are a distraction, a sideshow, and lacks substance. Organize, and develop plans to provide services.
