Governor Rankin signs new Curfew Order

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Virgin Islands will remain under a 3-hour curfew until March 11, 2021, according to a new Curfew Order signed by Governor John J. Rankin, CMG on February 24, 2021, and published in the Official Gazette.

The Imposition of a Curfew Order (No.4), 2021, came into force today, February 25, 2021 at 5:00 am.

According to the Order, the curfew is for the purposes of controlling, suppressing or preventing the spread of COVID-19 and for the protection of all persons within the Territory.

The Order is valid until Thursday, March 11, 2021.

The Virgin Islands currently has zero recorded active cases of COVID-19, according to the latest update by Government on February 22, 2021.

    No active cases of covid-19, more than 5 months of any locally transmitted cases and yet the government finds it appropriate to keep in place a curfew., Is the BVI still under a state of emergency to justify a curfew of any kind? This needs to stop.
