Governor Rankin high flying yet again! Archer Jr to act as Governor
Deputy Governor, Mr. David D. Archer, Jr. will act in the Office of Governor from September 19 to 22, 2021, in the absence of Governor, Mr. John J. Rankin, CMG who will be out of the Territory.
A Friday, September 17, 2021, release from the Government Information Service (GIS) indicated that Mr. Archer, Jr., took the Oaths of Office in the presence of Justice of Appeal, His Lordship, the Honourable Mr. Paul Webster and His Excellency the Governor, Mr. John J Rankin, CMG.
Deputy Governor Archer Jr.’s appointment is in accordance with section 37 (1) (a) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order 2007.
The constitution states, “During any period when the office of Governor is vacant, or the Governor is absent from the Virgin Islands or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of his or her office, the Deputy Governor shall during Her Majesty’s pleasure, act in the office of Governor and shall perform the functions of that office accordingly.”
Just recently, Mr Archer Jr had acted in the capacity of Governor from August 28 to September 7, 2021, while Governor Rankin was out of the territory.

It’s true what the poster said there is systematic & institutional racism here that has yet to fully come to terms with the end of slavery & the resulting black empowerment.
