ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- His Excellency the Governor, Daniel Pruce, has assented to the Consumer Protection (Amendment) Act, 2026.

The legislation was passed in the House of Assembly on July 10, 2026.

The Consumer Protection (Amendment) Act, 2026, amends the Consumer Protection Act, 2020.

The Act outlines the responsibilities of those vendors who provide goods and services to the community, and the rights of the consumers. The Act also provides for a tribunal to settle disputes and complaints.

The amendments are also expected to transfer responsibilities assigned to the non-operational Virgin Islands Trade Commission to the minister responsible and the Director of Business.
