ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– Governor of the Virgin Islands Daniel Pruce will be publishing his first quarterly report on the implementation of the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) reforms in the Virgin Islands (VI) at the end of the month.

The Governor made the announcement after an address to the media in Observance of World Press Freedom Day on May 3, 2024.

Governor Pruce recently received a vocal flogging from controversial radio talk show host Rosemary L. Rosan aka ‘Cindy’, who accused him of being far less proactive than his predecessor, Mr John J. Rankin CMG, as he took office in January 2024 and has not yet published any reviews.

“I haven't yet conducted my first quarterly review. That will be coming later this month, the month of May. So I think that will be the point that which I'll offer my perspective on progress in the implementation of the CoI recommendations,” he told reporters at Government House.

No preempting terms of review - Governor

Meanwhile, when pressed on whether he will request extra powers from London, the Governor said, “I don't want to preempt the terms of my quarterly review… and as we discussed earlier this afternoon and in keeping with the spirit of transparency and accountability that I'll try to bring to this role, once we've compiled that review we will of course make that publicly available,” he added.

As part of the Press Freedom Day activities, the Governor also kept a closed-camera familiarisation discussion with reporters in the Virgin Islands.

“Let's write the review, finalise it, publish it and then we can have that discussion,” on progress he said.

Former Governor John J. Rankin CMG was slammed by local politicians, residents and political pundits for requesting more powers from London to implement Commission of Inquiry reforms in the VI.

Heads of Government in the Caribbean Overseas Territories (OTs) also came out in strong support of the Wheatley Government, objecting to additional powers being granted to the Governor to bypass the local democratic process.

The United Kingdom (UK) has given the VI a revised deadline of May 2024 to fully implement the reforms.

        What is colonialism

Is when you can’t pay your bills when government ministers can give their full pension after 5 years of no service just lip service and PR while hard working civil servants struggle for 25 years to get pension which often runs out before their age of 65.

Colonialism is victimizing hard working knowledgeable people who can make a significant contribution to their country but not being allowed the opportunity to do so because someone in the political arena want to define what someone should be in their own country.

Colonialism is having dirty sewerage running on the road, unreliable water, poor healthcare, dirty and poorly maintained roads and infrastructure while politicians travel all over the world flying first class and staying in 6 star accommodation while the public suffers to feed their family and are insulted by social services by getting $255 a month which can’t even buy food.

Colonialism is using the vote of the uneducated voters who believe that they are part of a party that are too naive to realize that the when all the campaigning is over that only a select handful of people are invited to the after party which was always the intention. Do you notice how close political parties are after the election and if they don’t see you as someone they want to be associated with they will shun you.

Colonialism is victimizing your citizens but when the British government try to hold the government accountable they cry foul and call them oppressive colonizers.

It’s time for people to wake up and see who the real oppressors are.

The UK-appointed governors all read from the same script and sing to the same music. There is no difference between Jaspert, Rankin, Rankin, and pruce, save for style with Pruce being more a snake in grass but just as deadly. The tge predetermined COI had a specific aim, which is being pursued regardless of whom is at Mount Olympus. The plan must be followed for aim to be achieved. The Colonialists had an aim but locals made it easy like taking candy from a baby with bungling, bad behavior aid by appeasers and traitors aka Neville Chamberlain and Benedict Arnolds. Virgin Islands still suffering from a severe and sickening case of disunity to the applause of Mount Olympus. Don’t be surprise if Pruce ask for additional powers. Rankin set the table for the additional powers. The suspension of the VI constitution is hanging over the head of the VI and its people, well some of its people. Some appears, Sambos want tge constitution suspended.

Ronnie is right in one way. The monies stop flowing in an unaccountable way.. To say the BVI been progressing for the past 20 yrs is dishonest. At this stage we are actually regressing..Something need to change..Can't continue like this..
