GoFundMe launched for teen injured in motor scooter accident @ Fort Recovery
According to the GoFundMe account, the impact left Mr Penn with severe injuries, and just two days later, he was airlifted to Colombia for advanced medical treatment.
"Since then, J’Alon has faced an incredibly tough journey—spending two and a half weeks in the ICU, undergoing nine surgeries, and now continuing his recovery in the general ward. His path to healing will be long, with months of respiratory, physical, and speech therapy ahead.
"J’Alon’s family has been by his side every step of the way, but the financial burden is overwhelming. The funds raised will support his medical journey, including hospital bills, ongoing hospital expenses, post-operative care and therapy, and living expenses while J’Alon is unable to work," the GoFundMe post stated.

THEY DONT CARE,IF THEY DO,DO SOMETHING TO FIX THAT PROBLEM
CONTROL THE TRAFIC
The two issues here are the fact that the roads are a terrible mess and has been for years, and two proper protective gear and safety measures are not being adhered to by scooter riders.
I then motioned to the comments, and I got annoyed. I rmembered that freedom of speech is a thing. However.. Why are commenters motioning to know the names of the parents?? I mean I can understand personal curiosity.. but to turn and say parents are "unfit", and questioning the presence of the parents or guardians.. is this what we have come to as a community?? How does this tidbit of info help you in making a decision to donate to this child who obviously need assistance? If the child parents come from one of the typical known names woudl you say "they got money, they will be fine?" Or "I dont know who them is, they even from here?" I would think regardless of those factors, you wanting to donate should be the overall focus. Once you have read and understood the events that took place, and you are impressed to give, then GIVE. Its that simple.
Focusing so heavily on what can best be described as secondary details that we overloook the main concern, which is these kids got into an accident. Could it have been avoided, perhaps. However, the kidz lived, praise God. This one is now fighting for his life, overcoming 9 surgeries (that alone should tell you the expense level. Parents/guardians, while not named, have been mentioned as "being next to the patient throughout all the surgeries", etc. It is not the community's business who they are..acknowledge that they are, as the article says, "present".
I do believe that had the parents been named..the focus of these comments would not be on the kid nor his fight for recovery, nor his need for financial and spiritual need. The article is simply asking for assistance.
Parents cannot stop chilfren from making mistakes, they can only advise as best, and as often as they can, especially when they reach a certain age. I'm sure we see the children of today being extra hardheaded.. thats not just due to parenting, its due to how our schools allow kids to operate nowadays; lack of rules and discipline, afraid to correct, how the community see wrong and instead of stepping in or atleast reaching out to advise the kids/ parents, in love, we see it as "somebody else child/ somebody else problem". Then to those parents who allow their kids to grow up sparing the rod, which ends up spoiling the child.. its a "ah we" crisis.
We really need to do better as a people. Note the word WE. We, as in who all claim to live in the BVI. We as parents, family, educators, institutions, Government officials need to do better.
Signs if the time are every where. Let's be part of the solution moving forward, instead of the ongoing problem. May God have mercy on our souls.
And btw was the young man in the wrong when the accident occurred, or are people jumping to the conclusion he was just because he was riding a bike? I drive on a daily basis and I have to ask the Saviour to go with me, because drivers would watch you and charge at you head on just to avoid those dug out places in Hope Hill road. Very nerve racking.
We need to be more Christ-like and be careful of our thoughts and words. Life is too short to be so full of hate.
now, because it is open public news of J'Alon in a scooter accident, we are quick to bring condemnation while he is fighting for his life. I know J'Alon personally. He is a nice kid. He means well. Accidents happen all the time. It is unfortunate that he was involved in an accident that almost took his life and the life of another but thank God he is alive! and the other young lady, she is thriving, and alive. The main focus of this article is to help ease the financial burden of his family. If you cant, you cant. Move along.
you never know what can happen to your child, a family member, or even you, until you are in such position and find yourself seeking financial assistance. It takes guts to say, I need help. Sometimes we just got to swollow pride and seek help.
May God help you Ms Durante. Stay strong. Trust in God. He will make a way for you. I will assist.
this is a learning experience for J'Alon and all irresponsible motorist to use caution and safe driving.
~Blessings to all of you
As for Insurance of scooters, do you think these young people can pay the premiums when they keep getting into accidents like this. Bodily injury is real, insurance is a pool of monies, so when insurance companies start raising their premiums it will be because of issues like this, too much payouts and not enough income to cover the amount of accidents happening.
