HUNTUMS GHUT, Tortola, VI- Law professionals in the Virgin Islands (VI) have been urged to seek wisdom in their practice.

Law professionals in the Virgin Islands gathered for the Opening of the Law Year 2026 service at Shekinah House of Prayer Church of God of Prophecy on Monday, January 13, 2025.

During the teaching, ‘The Value of Wisdom’, Senior Pastor Da-Ana L.C. Samuel told the law practitioners, “You are where you are because God placed you there, and you have to recognise that. You did not get there on your own, I did not get here on my own, we didn’t get here on our own; God placed us here.”

Seek knowledge, understanding and wisdom

Pastor Samuel encouraged the law professionals to seek wisdom from God if they are lacking wisdom.

“It’s as simple as that…You are where you are because God placed you there, and you have to recognise that. You did not get there on your own.”

God, she said, has a reason and a plan for placing them there to “execute justice”.

Many times, our education, our knowledge, what we know, gets to our head, and we think that that’s all we need because we know it. We have this degree, we have that degree, we have experience, we have all of these accolades but Solomon recognised that I God I have the whole kingdom, but I still don’t know enough I dont have what it takes, when we recognise and undestand that in ourselves we are limited, you are limited, I am limited but God who is limitless not only in mercy, not only in compassion, but in knowledge…

She also shared that the more we put God in our business, the fewer mistakes we make.

Knowledge, understanding & wisdom

Pastor Samuel explained that wisdom, while the principal thing, should not be sought in isolation.

“So you have knowledge which is the facts, the content about any subject matter and then you have understanding which is the ability to compreend the facts or obedience…you need to add a third dimension to that…you need the wisdom of God which is the ability to take the knowledge and the understanding of the knowlegde that you have and apply it to any situation to arrive at the right, correct and moral answer. That’s what you need.”

She told them they need the wisdom of God when they get exhausted and overwhelmed to help them navigate through all of that

“As long as you seek the Lord, the Lord will give you success…make you prosper. As long as you put God first, the Lord will make everything you put your hand to succeed.”

The 2026 Law Year is being recognised by the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC) under the theme ‘The ECSC: Justice that Endures- Anchored in Independence, Strengthened through Trust’, focusing on the court's resilience, autonomy, and public confidence.
