ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- It was just over a year that pedestrian Julian Turnbull was fatally struck in the Mayaba area of Tortola and now relatives are satisfied that it seems there will be justice for his death.

The body of Turnbull, 52, was found on March 3, 2016.

Police have since charged Lorraine Ryder-Wollner for causing death by reckless driving and is set for another court appearance in May 2017.

According to a close relative of Turnbull, "We need the public to know that we will get justice because when the accident happened it was all over the news."

"It's is sad that a whole year passed before they finally charged the woman but at least we will get some satisfaction because we think he is not a big one or popular that we weren't getting quick action but the God above don't sleep," said the relative.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) had stated in a press release last week that Ryder-Wollner was arrested and charged on March 30, 2017.

The accused was granted bail when she appeared in the Magistrate’s Court.

Seems hard to believe this lady was charged. Julien was laying down in the road. He was seen walking home in toxicated (as is normally the case). I can understand if she struck him standing up, but if she drove over a body laying in street then it's hard to prove the negligence was on her part.

@SMH, PLEASE REMEMBER, JULIAN TURNBULL WAS A WONDERFUL HUMAN BEING, AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH.

DO YOU EXPECT FOR HIS DEATH TO BE JUST THROWN ASIDE AS IF HE WAS A DOG? NO.

AFTER A YEAR JULIAN TURNBULL, CONTINUE TO REST IN PEACE.

If the shoe ever goes on your foot, then you will be crying "ACCIDENT" at the top of your lungs. Bloody hypocrite. I don't know either of them, but if I were the victim, I would not want anyone to be sent to jail after I am gone for something like this. It's plain crazy. Even if the driver was going at 15 miles per hour, its very likely and not impossible that a drunken person in the road would be killed.

Well dont talk too fast because apparently one news site says she struck him and he fell to the ground... so They need to be sure which one it was... was he already dead... was he just passed out or did she really hit him recklessly as They say...... Its just sad tho because Im reading this article and honestly it feels like just an unintentional accident..... May his soul rest in peace and I really hope that Now the family really have found Justice..... SMH

We all need to stop and examine ourselves as a Community, family members, friends and associates because
persons whom we "claim" to care about so very much, yet we see them daily but don't do anything to
help guide or encourage them. Sadly, it's only when they have fallen to tragedy everyone pretended like they
cared about them, and only want to hear their names being called during these funeral announcements. So please stop
making harsh judgement and make your contribution to these people while they are alive.

My question is to the family., Was the probable cause of death a homicide/ a hit and run/ a carefully orchestrated death, to warrant prison time?

I see this as an accident call it as you may, could have happened to anyone of us

He was lying in the middle of the road at night, no ones fault. Drop all charges and go arrest some illegal, no insurance, no license, no helmet, no brain scooter drivers.

The exact type of accident occurred in Cane Garden Bay a few years ago. The guy was never charged because the deceased was laying in the road. How is this case different?

If he was lying in the middle of the run way at the airport and a plane ran over him would it be the pilots fault, obviously not. If there were trains here and he was lying on the tracks and was run over would it be the train drivers fault, of course not. Come police, go catch some of the many, many murderers on the island and leave this person alone.

Mr. Turnbull was the key prosecution witness for a very high profile murder case that was due to go to court the following week. The case involved several well known violent 'gangsters' from the territory who would not hesitate to take a life. The vehicle that struck Mr. Turnbull ran over his ARM. Look for the real perpetrator or stop wasting the taxpayers money.

I totally agree with you, that was a well calculated murder to silence Julian Turnbull from testifying in Tiger’s murder trial, even a blind man can see that, so I hope the family can open their eyes and see that, as they say “God don’t sleep”. I understand Julian had a big gap in his head which does not add up, if he was actually run over by a vehicle. That poor lady happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, it is just unfortunate that she has to take the wrap for the silence killer(s).
