ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Ahead of this weekend’s Wooden Boat Classic on Jost Van Dyke, nine boats made the long beat to Anegada last weekend including the 12m Classic, MV Kate from St Kitts, but the winner’s trophy was won by Judy Petz and Keith LiGreci.

In what turned out to be a super day for sailing, with winds around 15 knots out of the east, nine boats, including one from Virgin Gorda and one from St. Kitts made the long beat for Anegada. The sailing duo of Judy Petz and Keith LiGreci left everyone else in their wake to take the trophy. "It was my first race on Girasoli, and I won!!!" said an elated Judy, who was at the helm. "It was a wonderful weekend" Keith agreed.

Reba with Jon Charlton and a crew of 9, including the Governor, Boyd McCleary, came in second and Christophe Boisgirard and the French Connection placed third.

The predictably awesome post race beach party at "the Reef" was filled with lots of dancing, good food and camaraderie and the organizers made special note of the participation of the rare 12M beauty S/Y Kate, from St. Kitts.

Owner and builder, Philip Walwyn and crew, gave everyone on the water a wonderful addition to the BVI scenery this weekend that they aren't likely to forget for a while.

Foxy’s Wooden Boat Classic kicks off this morning with the Wooden Boat single handed Yacht Race and Classic Yacht Race. On Sunday, the action continues with the Foxy’s Wooden Boat Race and Classic Single Handed Race before the awards ceremony and the music begins.

In other Sailing News Alec Andersen will be finishing off his college sailing career this weekend at the ICSA Nationals in St. Petersburg Florida. The Inter-Collegiate Nationals will see Anderson competing 3 days in individual competition, and 3 days in team competition on "Flying Juniors" representing Roger Williams University. He will be looking to land his 4th All American.

Once Andersen finishes, he'll be on his way back to the BVI to start training on a 49er with his partner, Chris Brockbank preparing for the Florida Nationals this summer, and ultimately starting their 2016 Olympic Campaign to go to Rio.
