WICKHAMS CAY II, Tortola, VI – In the words of Mr Warren D. Wintz who along with Mr Kacie V. Sampson aka DJ Millennium King held a fundraiser to support the Family Support Network (FSN), “No good work should go unnoticed and unrewarded, no matter how small we need to encourage those who give of their heart to help others.”

Wintz made the statement Monday evening June 23, 2014 at Charlie’s Restaurant, Wickham’s Cay II at a simple dinner presentation held to hand over cash that was raised at their family Fund Day held Sunday June 15, 2014 at the Greenland Field, East End, Tortola.

The fun day feature what was seen as a grudge match of 20/20 cricket between two of the hottest teams in the Virgin Islands Vikings and Vincy Cricket Team. The Vincys defeated Vikings and won themselves cash and other prizes. Both teams were credited for putting on the hype of the fun day in the friendliest match.

“Tonight it is with much pleasure that we are handing over $1K that we successfully raised at the fun day to the Family Support Network. Kacie and I and our partners are very confident that we made the right decision and directed our energies in the right direction in doing this…” he said.

But according the duo, the handing over of the cash was just the beginning of a long relationship and partnership with the FSN. As part of their efforts to support the local none-profit organization they had what was called a ‘sponsor a meal’ drive.

In this way they sold food tickets, persons paid for the ticket and had them returned to the group and for each returned ticket a meal will go to FSN for needy families. “Monday was the first day that we delivered hot diets to FSN and it was very touching, they requested 15 meals for that day and it was really sad to know that we have that many people, mostly children going hungry on a daily basis in this small country,” noted an emotional Wintz.

He said that at the request of FSN meals would be dropped off for their needy families on a daily basis but the drive would not stop when all the tickets sold for the family day would have been exhausted. “We decided that we will continue the sponsor a meal drive for as long as possible, a year, two years, however long, where we will continue to sell tickets and have meals given to FSN families,” added Mr Sampson, one of the other partners.

They are encouraging the general populace to support the food drive as they see it as a well deserving effort to support FSN.

Wintz and Sampson are two Guyanese who have been residing in the Virgin Islands for a number of years. While Sampson is mostly known for his popular Dee-jaying beats and is on a local radio station daily, Wintz who works in the insurance industry is an ardent member of Virgin Islands Rotary family.

real question though is why did FSN only get 1000 ? all that fundraising for events described as proceeds going to the charity and only 1000 ? the party the previous night must have raised thousands alone

If you had listened to the commercial and read the news properly you would have seen/heard part proceeds from the Family Fun Day goes to FSN..those guys could have promoted this event without involving the FSN but they did because they see the need and FSN sure did appreciate what was donated. How many promoter you see promoting that usually give back to the community (even if they aint go public) some of y'all just need to relax and accept small portion until more can be given smdh
