FREDERIKSTED, St. Croix, USVI - The U.S. Virgin Islands recorded its 47th homicide for 2020 on Sunday night, December 27, 2020, after a man was shot dead in Frederiksted on Fish Street.

The 46th homicide occurred in St. John on Nov. 17, though there were multiple shooting incidents to date.

According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, on Sunday at 6:01 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received calls of shots fired on Fisher Street, Frederiksted, at the Fish Market.

Officers travelled to the area and found an adult Black male on the ground with gunshot wounds, according to the V.I.P.D. news release.

The victim was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital via ambulance, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was identified by next of kin as 25-year-old Jahmandi Simon.
