Fratelli Beretta Ready-to-Eat Meat recalled from VI shelves
The Ready-to-Eat Coppa products have varying best by dates, however, the products subject to recall bears the following establishment number “EST. M47967 or M7543B” inside the USDA mark of inspection or in inkjet print on the front of the package.
A release from Environment health said the recall, issued by Fratelli Beretta USA, Inc. is due to the under processing of products containing Coppa (dry cured pork), which may have resulted in possible contamination with foodborne pathogens.
“These products were shipped to distributors and retails locations worldwide, including the Virgin Islands. Officials from the Environmental Health Division are in communication with associated retailers, who have since removed the affected products from their shelves. Some of the products were however sold to the public,” it added.
The Ministry advises persons who may be in possession of the recalled products to discontinue use immediately and to return to the place of purchase.
The Ministry of Health and Social Development, Environmental Health Division says it will continue to monitor the situation and advise the public, where necessary. Persons can also contact the division at 468-5110 for more information.
