Foxy marks 85th Birthday with grand celebration on JvD
Born on September 27, 1938, Foxy is one of the most famous residents on the Island of Jost van Dyke and the proprietor of Foxy's Restaurant and Bar.
While his birthday was in September, Foxy decided to celebrate his 85th birthday on Sunday, October 15, 2023, with a big splash attracting people from all walks of life to the island.
Among them were Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Labour and Trade Honourable Lorna G. Smith (AL), Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley (R9), Junior Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries Dr The Honourable Karl Dawson (R1) and Member of the Opposition Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8).
Legislators joined in celebrations
In her social media post, Hon Smith said, "Thanks for all you have done over the years to put this country on the map! I have attended so many of your New Year’s Eve parties ranked among the best in the world."
Hon Wheatley apart from his wishes for continued long life and good health, celebrated Foxy on instrument playing with the band Leon and the Hotshots.
Hon Dawson reflected on the churchgoer Foxy who in his early years provided music with his guitar.
The celebration ran throughout the day and well into the night with Pascale and the Extreme Band closing out the celebration.
Foxy says he looks forward to living to 100 years and to continuing the traditional Foxy's events, especially the New Year celebrations.
