PASEA, Tortola, VI – Former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, John Andrew Boehner was today December 14, 2015 spotted at Pasea Rite Way shopping centre as he is said to be in the territory for a few days.

Persons called our newsroom moments ago to alert us that the former Speaker was spotted at the shopping centre on the Virgin islands' main island of Tortola.

When we turned up, he was there with a small entourage shopping for groceries, shopping cart in hand.

Mr Boehner told this news site, in an exclusive interview, that he would be in the territory for another few days.

Boehner, seen as a fierce adversary of United States President Barack H. Obama, was succeeded by Paul D. Ryan as House Speaker in October 2015.

According to the Daily Mail, Mr Boehner dramatically announced his resignation from Congress on September 25, 2015- the day after weeping as the Pope addressed a joint session of the House - avoiding a messy intra-party struggle to retain the gavel.

The Republican leader, 65, at the press conference later in the day, said he always intended to leave Congress at the end of this year and was going to go public on his birthday, Nov. 17. The current 'turmoil' in the House, he said, caused him to exit early.

    Good to hear that the Former Speaker brought some of that US Dollar to the BVI Market. I hope he enjoys his stay in the VI as he now becomes stress free from the Halls of the US Congress. No more time to filibuster have a nice time in the VI Mr. Speaker.

    When we have world famous people coming to our little territory on their vacation to get away from it all, it really makes you realize how blessed we are to call these islands our home. I hope the Speaker and his family have a great time and enjoy the VI and it's people.

    get our premium resort and restaurant back on line. Or maybe he could help straighten out some other messes.
    He's a Republican so he's surely against FATCA and could be helpful with BVI's financial services...
