GREENLAND, Tortola, VI -The BVI Football Association (BVIFA) will be launching its 9-a-side Tournament for men and women this Sunday September 27, 2015 with an Opening Ceremony at 3pm on the Greenland Playfield in East End.

Following remarks from the invited guests, BVIFA President Mr. Andy Bickerton and 2nd Vice President Mrs Shereen Flax-Charles, who is also the Executive Member in Charge of Women’s Football, action will get underway with a women’s game, after which two men’s games will take place.

The 9-a-side marks a return to competitive football for the senior men’s teams, who have been out of action since the Marlon A. Penn 9-a-side concluded back in February, when One Love were crowned champions.

The women have been slightly more active with a CONCACAF World Women’s Day and a BVIFA 5-a-side tournament that coincided with the Women’s World Cup.

Women’s defending champions Panthers will face Ballstarz Ladies to kick off the League at 4pm, then the Wolues F.C. will face Ballstarz in the Men’s League Group A and the first day will round out with the Rebels F.C. against the Islanders F.C in Group B.

Virgin Gorda United and Sugar Boyz complete the teams in Group A, whilst Old Madrid and Panthers join the Islanders and Rebels F.C. in Group B.

Each team in the Group plays each other twice with the top two from each Group then playing the semi-finals with the winners battling it out in the final scheduled for December 6, 2015.

      .. Island people who;
      - teach your children.
      - work in the offices.
      - police the streets.
      - serve your drinks.
      - clean your house.
      Those ones? Or the BV ISLANDer ones who come from a large land mass?
