SPANISH TOWN, Virgin Gorda, VI - Today Saturday April 7, 2012 signals the grand opening of the Leon “Kinney” Creque Festival which will begin this morning with the annual food fair and will make way for the official ceremony at the festival village this evening.

The Food Fair is expected to attract many vendors and visitors and there is good news for turtle lovers, is that, though the season is closed, permission has been granted for the sale of turtle meat and dishes throughout the festival.

However, those selling after midnight on Monday April 9, 2012 will be sanctioned and levied with fines, according to the law.

This was disclosed by Public Relations Officer of the Festival and Fairs Committee Rhodni Skelton from Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communication and Works Ronald Berkeley Smith.

Following the formal opening ceremony this evening, entertainment will be provided by Session Reloaded and Red Hot Flames.

Tomorrow April 8, there will be the Calypso Competition which will be followed by entertainment by Showtime Band and on April 9, following JÓuvert in the morning and Grand Parade later in the day, there will be entertainment by Heart Attack Band.

The Annual Wahoo Tournament is also set for Sunday April 8, and several boats have already registered for the grand fishing tournament.

Meanwhile, the VG Festival Committee is interested in volunteers to assist at the village and along the parade route and is inviting interested persons to contact them.

Why would you even say something like that? So eager to put up and say negative stuff. What purpose does your comment serve? Everyone at the village had an awesome time! Over 300 people were collected! Sounds like an awesome turn out to me! Momma always says...shut the hell up if aint positive!

Turnout was poor because nobody wants to have anything to do with the new Minister Myron. I think he is evil and polarizing and petty….they are sending an early message….
