VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- Despite leaving the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) as an At-Large Representative weeks before the 2023 General Elections, Former Legislator Shereen D. Flax-Charles who is now leading the charge of the District Nine Action Group has stated that the group is not anti-government.

She was at the time speaking at the Group’s Town Hall Meeting and Membership Drive held at the Catholic Community Centre on May 3, 2023. The meeting was conducted to chart the way forward with the process of membership and ventilating various ideas and focus for the Ninth District.

Group Not anti-Gov't - Flax-Charles

“I want to make it clear that this is not an anti-government group, this is not an anti-representative group. We have five representatives and I believe that we have to hold them accountable because you know who you’ve seen in the last four years," she added.

"Seh added, we have to stop talking and do, and it is not when we get up and we do it is against the Government, because all of us have to live here,” Flax- Charles told members of the group.

Ms Flax-Charles went on to highlight a number of challenges that are being experienced in the District as it relates to water, sewer, and transport as she stressed that the community cannot wait on the Government, but need to ‘take the bull by the horn.’

“And tonight, we can’t stay here very long you know, because tonight the water going off 9 o’clock. I mean, this is the reality of the day, and tomorrow again we’re going to have the same problem…and I feel bad for the guys at Water and Sewage, Public Works, etcetera who, as Sharon said has nothing to work with,” Flax- Charles continued.

Too much 'red tape' in Gov't - Flax-Charles

She said the group now needs to decide on how it will move forward as she noted that she found favor with it being a Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO), “Some people will say, well you were in Government and trust me, the frustration is real. Too much ‘red tape’,” she said.

Flax-Charles left the VIP weeks before the general election, claiming that she was in a “bad marriage” with the party and that she was more comfortable with the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM), which allowed her to run in District Nine, against her longtime friend and colleague the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley.

The people in District Nine have since let their voices be heard at the polls, leading to Flax-Charles coming in third in the four-person election race in the District. Ms Flax- Charles’ sister Sharon P. Flax- Brutus is also affiliated with the Action Group.

She and her Sis are sore losers. Take your loss like a woman and not a evil witch.

You claim it’s not anti government but it’s Anti-Vincent and you need to live with his win over you. Even Coy did better so go rest yourself and let the government do the work for the people.

Agreed, Coy did well for a first timer stepping into the ring. Honestly, if Vincent was not running, Coy would have won over flax.

Gotta give Vincent his props. He give up his Ministry when the Unity Government was formed and a lot said and thought that was it for him. Now look, he got a Ministry and he is acting Premier. I think he will do well with the portfolio he was assigned. I wish him and the other members of the Government well.

Sometimes in life we need to hold back our Condemnation before we find out the Facts. Vincent was a teacher, second in commnd for several years at Brigado Educational Center and was able to help many students, as he was also living in the community among them..He is a quiet guy and didn't reveal to us sooner about he giving up his position in order for the Unity Go ernme t to be organized. Perhaps he didn't reveal kt sooner because No one would have believe him as there were many against him and Saw a Wrong side of him. But to God be the glory. The governor to could have tell the voters before that he had nothing to do with the formation of Unity Government. Perhaps the governor to had his own axe to grind. Vincent is a good man, a smart and educated man and will do well in government. We need to support our government even thóugh they will make mistakes at times. BviLove, BviStrong

Talking season over, now it is action time with out an anti government group. The truth is why try to stay relevant and some of you know good intentions turned evil over the last 4 years undermining the very same people you rub shoulder to shoulder with. When we put down our wicked ways then and only then the public will hear the group.

9th district need people who will bring balance to the table not vindictiveness sorry to say. Take a rest and consider the motives and see if there be any evil intent attached

We have an action group in D2 and are often labeled as Anti Government too. However, we just want what’s best for our community.
