SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- The Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town donated essential appliances to the Francis Lettsome Primary School (FLPS) through a District Grant from the Rotary Foundation.

In a press release on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the club explained that District Grants support small-scale, short-term projects that address community needs, making them an effective way to deliver practical support where it is needed most.

This donation of a refrigerator and freezer forms part of the Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town’s long-standing commitment to childhood development and reflects Rotary’s continued investment in children’s learning environments and overall well-being.

This donation also reaffirms the club’s belief that investing in children is investing in the future of the Virgin Islands. Through practical support to schools, Rotary continues to advance its commitment to service, education, and youth development.

Contributing to a comfortable, functional environment

The release added that by helping to improve the school’s daily function and atmosphere, the appliances will support the school community and contribute to a more comfortable, functional environment for students and staff.

President of the Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town, Faye Smith-Penn, said the initiative underscores Rotary’s dedication to young people and the communities that nurture them.

She added that the club views childhood development as central to its service mission, recognising that strong schools and supportive environments help children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally

The Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town also expressed appreciation for The Rotary Foundation and the District Grant program, for making it possible for clubs to respond meaningfully to local needs through targeted service projects.

Rotary’s grant model is designed to support community-based efforts that create immediate and lasting benefit.
