Five couples carded for Mr & Ms VI International 2012!

The pageant has attracted a lot of negativity when it has just comprised of male contestants.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The inaugural Mr and Ms Virgin Islands, which will see five couples competing for the title and promises to be a spectacular affair at the Reichold Center For The Arts, St. Thomas on August 4, 2012.

Without giving too many details before hand, pageant coordinator Jeremy Fraser told this news agency that the five couple hail from Virgin Gorda, Tortola, St John, St. Thomas and St. Croix.

"They will be revealed to the public on May 1 on Tortola," Fraser said. "And I can tell you this, you will be in for a treat."

According to him, the reason for the pageant being held on St Thomas is due to the fact that most of the sponsors are from there.

"Also St Thomas is more opened to male pageants than here, sad to say. That is why we had to cancel the Mr. BVI here....too much negative publicity," he added.

The categories the couples will be competing in will be known at the official launch, the coordinator further stated.

The winning couple will each collect $5,000 cash, jewelry, a four year scholarship, among others prizes. Additionally, they will participate in several regional and international pageants.
