ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The final report of the controversial Commission of Inquiry (CoI) into governance in the Virgin Islands has been handed over to the United Kingdom-appointed Governor John J. Rankin, CMG by lone commissioner and UK national Sir Gary R. Hickinbottom.

This was revealed by Governor Rankin in a press release today, April 5, 2022.

The Commission’s Report, according to Governor Rankin, is long and detailed with almost 1,000 pages and over 40 recommendations.

“I appreciate that there is a lot of interest in the Report, but I hope you will understand that I will need some time to read and consider the findings and all of the Commissioner’s recommendations.”

Meanwhile, Governor Rankin said he will not be making any further statements on the Report until he has gone through the report and consider the findings and recommendations.

The Final CoI Report had an initial deadline of January 2022 but was delayed to April 2022.

More details to follow.

There is no excuse for bad grammar online, when you easily research the correct spelling of the word from Google or other search engines

Over 1,000 pages and 40 recommendations!

"Meanwhile, Governor Rankin said he will not be making any further statements on the Report until he has gone through the report and consider the findings and recommendations."

Can the Governor change the report content including recommendations? Why not publicly release it NOW as in today? Why tell us you have it - keep that news to yourself until you release it then.

On another note, you mean to tell me that ALL BVI Residents and Belongers cannot read and comprehend for themselves? Why hog the report? Just put it out there on a Governor's site for public access. DANG!!!

He cant release it without knowing hat is in it and what the recommendations are - tell me how long it will take you to read a 1000 page report and understand not only the recommendations but the repercussions of them? Some of you sound like fools

Approximately 2 hours to read or, 2 minutes per recommendation! Reading the recommendations should give the jest of the report. A person does not need to read 1,000 pages to understand the report? What school did you went to? You are so right - some of you sound like fools!

Do you not understand, HE'S THE GOVERNOR, he has ultimate responsibility for the report and its implementation. Not reading and understanding it thoroughly before releasing it would be a dereliction of duty.

Thats why the BVI is in the mess its in - not doing things properly in the first place

Governor, you must be transparent, that is what we ask, I need to know if my information was taken into account by the former governor, you have a duty to be open, our complaints about what happens here are not a secret, and your duty is to let us know so that we can take the next step. he is not dead nor are we a game of politicians

Why news of this report and it’s release is coinciding with the upcoming election season??

Anyone with half a dollar knows this report can sway the election against those it deemed dishonest!

England should not be allowed to interfere with local politics,

America’s CIA does same thing with regime change in South America!!

I think most of us knew this would be the case with the report. However the length of the report seems to be an attempt to justify the time it took to produce it. 40 recommendations sounds to me like those wanting a UK takeover will be disappointed. Why make 40 recommendations if you're going to take over? So I am interested in the recommendations and how we move fwd from this point. In the end this may be good for us to have gone through.

How are the recommendations going to be enforced without a takeover, or at least the threat of one if they aren't implemented?

And you fail to understand that England is the BVI’s boss. They have the final say.

Boss, England is no boss over the BVI. The UK is in a Trustee position. It holds thes lands on trust for the beneficisries, the people of the VI.
When we are ready to fully govern our trust property, UK must hand it over to us, and they signed to do so by 2030.
We not waiting on till 2030. The time has come!

We all have to wait since he did not say he has a few copies to give to S.P.E.C.I.A.L people. Why the rush? You all sound like some bumbling fools. Some of you all are the ones who went down to the previous Gov. and told lies and now can't wait to see if your lies made an impact or not; but remember that the reading/disclosing of the report is not the end of the story but the beginning.
