Many pets & stray animals perished during hurricanes Irma & Maria
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- While many residents are thankful to be alive after Hurricane Irma on September 6, 2017 destroyed the Virgin Islands (VI) leaving death, homelessness, looting and desperation in the streets of Tortola and Virgin Gorda for food and gasoline, our animal friends have also suffered.

Dogs are indeed man’s best friend, whether it be a poodle, a German Shepherd or a pit-bull, which is a special breed of dog that is beginning to become a favourite among dog lovers, including here in the Virgin Islands. Pit-bulls do not exist in large numbers in the VI, according to one VIslander who you can safely say knows a mountain about pit-bulls and other pets. He is our young professional for this week, Mr Jarrel ‘Jay’ Rhymer.
BVI Humane Society in uphill battle for survival
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – In what seems to be a case of the Good Samaritan needing a Good Samaritan, the BVI Humane Society says it continues to operate at a loss and is now burdened with having to relocate.
