Recreational marijuana now legal in USVI

FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI- Governor Albert A. Bryan Jr on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, signed into law the Virgin Islands Cannabis Use Act (Act 8680), which allows for the legal use by adults of marijuana for recreational, medicinal and other purposes. It also allowed for the legal distribution of the drug in the US Virgin Islands (USVI).

FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI- “Framing our Financial Future” is the theme of the Governor Albert A. Bryan administration's budget covering fiscal years 2023 and 2024. The budget, which was submitted to the 34th Legislature Tuesday afternoon, May 31, 2022, among other things provides $16 million for public employees' wage increases and funding for about 1,200 vacancies across all government agencies.

Wheatley (R7) as he told HempFest 2019 that his government is picking up where the previous government left off in the journey to legalising the plant and very soon the community will be consulted to flesh out a National Democratic Party (NDP) drafted bill currently being reviewed.
