VI calls on UK & other Colonial Powers to support self-determination of OTs
DILI, Timor-Leste: Virgin Islands (VI) Special Envoy Mr E. Benito Wheatley has called on the nations classified as Administering Powers to set aside their national interests in support of the self-determination of the 17 remaining Territories over which they have control who fall under the remit of the United Nations (UN) Special Committee on Decolonisation (C-24) mandated to assist the Territories in achieving a full measure of self-government and eradicating the last vestiges of colonialism.
Governor Pruce says UK Ministers will decide on lifting Order in Council
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI— The ultimate decision on whether to lift the controversial Order in Council, which currently reserves the power for the UK Government to impose direct rule over the Virgin Islands, lies solely with UK Foreign Secretary David L. Lammy and Minister for Overseas Territories Stephen J. Doughty, according to Governor Daniel Pruce.
Governor rules out more powers; Premier eyes end to Order in Council

VI will continue to collaborate with UK to bring CoI chapter to a close- Premier

Wheatley (R7) stated, as he gave an update on the final tasks to be done to get the Order in Council to suspend the Virgin Islands’ constitution lifted.
Premier ‘optimistic’ VI will be able to ‘transition past Order in Council’

'We brought the Motion of No-Confidence at the right time'- Opposition Leader
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Leader of the Opposition Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton (AL) has expressed optimism that the United Kingdom will not activate the Order in Council that sits over the Virgin Islands following the Commission of Inquiry Report, but expressed disdain in the territory’s Premier and Minister of Finance for not giving Opposition legislators their due credit.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The real reason for the Opposition attempting to bring forward a Motion of No Confidence against Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) during the Nineteenth Sitting of the First Session of the Fifth House of Assembly (HoA) of the Virgin Islands on September 3, 2024, may have been to avoid the government from receiving credit in the event the Order in Council held in reserve is lifted.
